Totally 90's
ok so here in crap-ramento we have new radio station. it is called 106.5 the buzz and it is all 90's! I love 90's music and I was talking with a friend who was like "ehh I'm not a big fan" so that got me wondering why I am. I realized my formative years and damn near every big moment in my life happened in the 90's. I started the decade in 5th grade at a new (public) school! It was a total shock to my system suddenly there were cute boys and annoying boys, catty girls and nice girls. It totally turned my world upside down! This was the era of "baby got back" "ice ice baby" and Garth Brooks' hey day! Then was Junior High and making new friends because I went to junior high across town. It was for my first best friend, my first kiss, my first love and my first broken heart. It is when I started watching Days of our Lives and becoming enraptured at the sheer stupidity of showing a possessed human being! I endured the heartbreak of my best friend moving 3,000 miles away. I was listening to rap and hip hop from TLC, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog but I also was introduced to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and STP. I took my first cross country trip and spent the summer with my best friend wearing out our "dookie" tape. Then came High school and going to school with 5 people I knew from junior high and us trying to relate to one another through music because we didn't have anything else in common but didn't have those wings yet to find new people. High school dances and slow dancing to Selena's "I could fall in love" and thinking you could. Taking my second cross country trip and spending the summer with a boy I thought I loved more than anything only to have him break my heart from 3,000 miles away. Then I met Paul my first real boyfriend who took me on my first date and with who I shared the rest of my "firsts" with. We had special songs and special movies with special songs. He introduced me to Metallica and Rob Zombie and I tortured him and made him listen to Toby Keith and Brooks and Dunn . We got Pregnant and he sang "everything I do(I do it for you)" to my belly. We had a baby, I graduated and we got married and danced to "In your Eyes" (not a song from the 90's I know but I didn' discover it until then so i lump it into the 90's). By the end of the decade I had become a high school graduate, a mommy and a wife. I think this is why I have such an eclectic taste in music. I hear a song and it takes me back and I can remember where I was, the smells, the sounds and the very moment I was in and there were so many songs and so many moments that have such powerful memories for me. I LOVE 90's music because it's all had a part in making me, me!

"Ain't it funny how a melody,
can bring back a memory.
Take you to another place in time, completely change your state of mind..."
Just thought I'd add a 90's song to close the loop :) I'm cheesy like that! XOXO
